I’m thrilled to announce the release of WebberZone Knowledge Base v2.3.0! This update represents a significant milestone, with a complete codebase rewrite introducing classes and autoloading for a modern, streamlined architecture. Under the Hood: A Complete Rewrite
I have rewritten the plugin to utilise object-oriented programming principles. By implementing classes and adopting autoloading techniques, I have improved code organisation, enhanced performance, made the codebase more maintainable, and simplified future updates and extensions.
Powerful New Blocks: Expanding Knowledge Base Capabilities
With the Site Editor, I have created three new blocks you can use instead of widgets or shortcodes.
Knowledge Base Articles Block
Display the Knowledge Base articles for a specific Knowledge Base Section (category). You can select the category via an auto-complete field to display the articles. Remember to choose a category that contains articles!
Knowledge Base Breadcrumbs Block
Navigating the knowledge base just got easier. The new Block helps users understand where they are browsing the knowledge base and easily trace their steps.
Knowledge Base Sections Block
This Block allows you to display the Sections in your Knowledge Base. Select the depth and include custom text or HTML before or after each line item.
Enhanced Navigation and SEO
Enhanced Breadcrumb Navigation
I’ve revamped breadcrumb navigation with semantic HTML5 markup and improved accessibility. These updates make your Knowledge Base easier to navigate and align with best practices for inclusive web design.
Schema.org BreadcrumbList Markup
To boost SEO, I’ve added Schema.org’s BreadcrumbList markup. This markup allows search engines to better understand your knowledge base’s structure, improving the chances of rich results in search listings.
Support for Custom Unicode Separators
Customise your breadcrumb separators with full Unicode support, creating a global and personalised user experience.
Changing Home > Product > Articles to Home ➔ Product ➔ Articles is effortless.
