Who we are

We are WebberZone, run by Beyond DevelopOpens in a new window. We have developed several WordPress plugins, which you can find on this website.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We only collect information about you if we have a reason to do so–for example, to provide our Services, to communicate with you, or to make our Services better.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you are using it. Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

We provide several contact forms on our website. When visitors contact us via one of these forms, we collect the data shown in the form as well as the visitor’s IP address.

We use this information to respond to your enquiry, provide a quote, or support our plugins. We do not share this information with third parties or use it for marketing purposes. Data from contact forms is stored for up to 3 years.

Cookies

When you first visit, a banner asks which cookies you allow. We only use cookies that are strictly necessary and, if you agree, preference cookies. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie button at the bottom-left of every page or by opening cookie settings.

Strictly necessary cookies

  • pressidium_cookie_consent: stores your cookie choices. Expires after 6 months.
  • cf_clearance: set by Cloudflare when your browser passes a security check, so you are not checked again. Expires after 1 year.
  • lyteCookie: lets locally cached YouTube video thumbnails load. Deleted when you close your browser.

Preference cookies (only if you allow them)

  • Comment cookies, if you choose to save your details when commenting (see below).
  • ck_subscriber_id and wordpress_ck_subscriber_id: set by Kit when you subscribe to our newsletter. Both hold your subscriber ID so our signup forms can show that you’re subscribed. Expire after 1 year.
  • Article rating cookies (see below).

Browser storage

We also keep a few items in your browser’s local or session storage instead of cookies: a random token our help widget uses to limit abuse, your country (used to show plugin prices in your currency; on pages with prices, your browser looks this up from Freemius, which receives your IP address), and a WordPress check of whether your browser can display emoji.

Consent records

When you make a choice in the cookie banner, we record the date, the page, your browser’s user agent, an anonymised IP address (with the last part removed, so it does not identify your device) and the categories you accepted, so that we can show consent was given. We delete each record 12 months after you last made or changed your choice.

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Article Ratings

When you rate a knowledge base article, we store a cookie in your browser to prevent duplicate votes. This cookie stores a simple marker indicating that you have already rated a specific article. The cookie expires after 365 days (1 year). You may clear this cookie at any time in your browser settings, allowing you to submit a new rating. A temporary marker is also stored in your browser’s localStorage to prevent accidental duplicate submissions during the same session; it expires after 1 hour. If you choose to submit optional written feedback, a hashed version of your IP address is stored alongside your feedback text.

You can remove cookies stored in your computer via your browser settings. Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor had visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

YouTube videos on this site are loaded from youtube-nocookie.com only when you press play. Until then, nothing is requested from YouTube.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web AnalyticsOpens in a new window to count page views and see which pages are popular. It does not use cookies or browser storage and does not track you across websites.

Log Files

As with most other websites, we collect and use the data contained in log files. The information in the log files includes your IP (internet protocol) address, your ISP (internet service provider), the browser you used to visit our site (such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari or Firefox), the time you visited our site and which pages you visited throughout our site. These logs are set to delete automatically at regular intervals.

Who we share your data with

We will not rent, sell, or share personal information about you with other people or non-affiliated companies. Data like your email address will not be made visible on the site unless you choose to display it.

We use Kit (formerly ConvertKit) for our newsletter. When you subscribe using a form on this site, your first name and email address are sent from our website to Kit, and a copy of the submission is also stored on our website. Payments

We may provide paid products and/or services within the Service. In that case, we use third-party services for payment processing (e.g. payment processors).

We will not store or collect your payment card details. That information is provided directly to our third-party payment processors whose use of your personal information is governed by their Privacy Policy. These payment processors adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS, managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. How long do we retain your data?

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users who register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except for their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

If you send us a message or support request via one of our contact forms, we will retain this information for up to 3 years.

If you purchase a plugin from us, we retain the order and customer details indefinitely. This is for tax, accounting and reporting. Your user account (created automatically during checkout) is also stored indefinitely. Please contact us if you would like to delete your account.

If you are one of our web design or web hosting clients, we hold the information you have provided to us for as long as you are a client. If you are no longer one of our clients, we archive your information and subsequently delete it.

What rights do you have over your data?

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

How we protect your data

WebberZone takes many precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information. These precautions include:

  • Hardware stored in secure datacentres behind firewalls

  • Restrictions on what information can be accessed via any location

Whilst we take great care to ensure any confidential information remains protected, we cannot guarantee the security of information. However, we promise to notify suitable authorities of data breaches. We will also notify you if there is a threat to your rights or interests. We will do everything we reasonably can to prevent security breaches and to assist authorities should any breaches occur.

Of course, you are responsible for keeping your password and user details confidential. Nobody at WebberZone will ever ask you for your password, so please don’t trust anyone who asks for it.
