What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We only collect information about you if we have a reason to do so–for example, to provide our Services, to communicate with you, or to make our Services better.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you are using it. Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

We provide several contact forms on our website. When visitors contact us via one of these forms, we collect the data shown in the form as well as the visitor’s IP address.

We use this information to respond to your enquiry, provide a quote, or support our plugins. We do not share this information with third parties or use it for marketing purposes. Data from contact forms is stored for up to 3 years.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Article Ratings

When you rate a knowledge base article, we store a cookie in your browser to prevent duplicate votes. This cookie stores a simple marker indicating that you have already rated a specific article. The cookie expires after 365 days (1 year). You may clear this cookie at any time in your browser settings, allowing you to submit a new rating. A temporary marker is also stored in your browser’s localStorage to prevent accidental duplicate submissions during the same session; it expires after 1 hour. If you choose to submit optional written feedback, a hashed version of your IP address is stored alongside your feedback text.

Analytics

This information includes, but is not limited to, the browser and operating system used, the visitor’s location, the pages visited during a given session, the date and time of the visit, and the page visited before arriving on our website (the referring page).

We use this information to analyze visitor and customer behaviour, to identify sources of website traffic, and make improvements to our website and plugin store.

The Google Analytics service will set up to 3 cookies in your browser. Two are used to uniquely identify you (to distinguish one visitor from another). These expire after 1 day and 2 years, respectively. The third cookie is used to throttle the request rate and expires after 1 minute.

Google Signals

Google Analytics will collect visitation information and associate it with Google information from accounts of signed-in users who have consented to this association for the purpose of ad personalization. Log Files

As with most other websites, we collect and use the data contained in log files. The information in the log files includes your IP (internet protocol) address, your ISP (internet service provider), the browser you used to visit our site (such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari or Firefox), the time you visited our site and which pages you visited throughout our site. These logs are set to delete automatically at regular intervals.

Who we share your data with

We will not rent, sell, or share personal information about you with other people or non-affiliated companies. Data like your email address will not be made visible on the site unless you choose to display it.

Payments

We may provide paid products and/or services within the Service. In that case, we use third-party services for payment processing (e.g. payment processors).

We will not store or collect your payment card details. That information is provided directly to our third-party payment processors whose use of your personal information is governed by their Privacy Policy. These payment processors adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS, managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. How long do we retain your data?

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users who register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except for their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

If you send us a message or support request via one of our contact forms, we will retain this information for up to 3 years.

If you purchase a plugin from us, we retain the order and customer details indefinitely. This is for tax, accounting and reporting. Your user account (created automatically during checkout) is also stored indefinitely. Please contact us if you would like to delete your account.

If you are one of our web design or web hosting clients, we hold the information you have provided to us for as long as you are a client. If you are no longer one of our clients, we archive your information and subsequently delete it.

What rights do you have over your data?

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

We will do everything we reasonably can to prevent security breaches and to assist authorities should any breaches occur.

Of course, you are responsible for keeping your password and user details confidential. Nobody at WebberZone will ever ask you for your password, so please don’t trust anyone who asks for it.
