Better Search v3.2.1

I’m excited to announce the release of Better Search v3.2! This latest version includes several enhancements, modifications and bug fixes that improve the overall functionality and performance of the plugin.

Search improvements

Better Search’s algorithm got better in v3.2.0 to include descriptions of taxonomies in search results. This will enable WordPress website owners to provide more relevant search results to their users.

I’ve also fixed a bug where a MySQL error was generated if there were + signs with banned words in BOOLEAN mode. Queries with apostrophes also gave errors, which has now been resolved.

Output tweaks

The latest version of the plugin only highlights whole words in the search results. This change should make it easier to read and understand search results.

Additionally, the censor character has been modified to be a blank phrase instead of a space. Moreover, multiple spaces will now be replaced by a single space. This will help prevent

v3.2.0 has also addressed several bugs. The shortcode for bsearch_form used incorrect parameters which has been corrected. In addition, the plugin is now PHP 8.1 compatible, which ensures that it works seamlessly with the latest version of PHP.

Lastly, the latest release includes a security fix when clearing the cache that didn’t check for proper permissions. This change should make Better Search more secure, particularly on multi-user blogs.
